Grand opening dates have been announced for the combined $2.2 billion expansions of the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa and the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Hollywood, where the world’s first guitar hotel and casino complex is on track to open Thursday, Oct. 24. SeminoleHard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa, one of the largest and most successfulcasinos in the world, plans a series of opening reveals throughout the summer,leading up to a grand opening on Thursday, Oct. 3.

The $700million expansion includes a new 14-story hotel tower with 562 guestrooms andsuites, three ultra-lavish pools and extensive gaming space. The casino complex has already completedexpansions to its state-of-the-art Poker Room, Mezzanine Level Casino/Rock Walkand Orient Road Garage. It will also unveil a new Rock Spa® & Salon, newfood and beverage options, retail stores, Hard Rock Event Center and a new arrivalexperience.

Three newoutdoor swimming pools are located on the second level of the expanded hoteland casino complex. With a total of 200,000 gallons of water to float, soak andsplash around in, a 60,000-square-foot expanded pool and deck area will feature20 cabanas, 700 lounges and daybeds, two DJ booths and more.

Thecompleted 245,000-square-foot casino includes an additional 1,000 slots and 41table games throughout its new gaming spaces, bringing the completed gamingexperience to nearly 5,000 slots, 179 tables and a state-of-the-art poker roomwith 46 poker tables. Hard RockInternational acquired Elvis Presley’s 24-karat gold leaf plated 1928 KimballPiano Company Grand Piano in 2015 as its 80,000^th piece ofmemorabilia. The piano was originallypurchased in 1955 by Presley as a gift for his mother, Gladys. Following herdeath in 1958, the piano was placed in storage, then resurrected by Elvis’ wifePriscilla Presley in 1968 in celebration of their first anniversary, when thegold leaf finish was added. The piano will be on permanent display in the GrandEntrance of the Seminole Hard Rock Tampa.

Continuingto elevate its music and entertainment programming, a Hard Rock Event Center withseating for 2,000 guests is set to open on the second level of the casinocomplex. The Seminole Hard Rock Hotel and Casino Tampa is a gaming complex and hotel that opened in 2004. It is located on the Tampa Reservation off of Interstate 4, just east of Tampa, Florida. The 190,000 square foot casino is the sixth-largest in the world and has been expanded multiple times since its opening. It is a 24-hour venue that permits smoking indoors.

It includes many displays of rock and roll memorabilia, such as clothing and musical instruments. Rock videos and music play on multiple screens, including one displayed inside a waterfall. Many song lyrics are displayed on the walls. Among its many services are a food court and tour bus parking. Special membership cards allow points accumulated by gambling to be redeemed for retail discounts.

In 1980, while excavating to build a parking garage in downtown Tampa, Indian remains were discovered. They were exhumed and relocated to 8.3 acres (3.4 ha) of land east of Tampa, that was granted reservation status to the Seminole Tribe one year later. Taking advantage of reservation status, the tribe opened a museum, a smoke shop and a high-stakes bingo hall by 1982. Eventually a Four Points Sheraton Hotel opened on the land, and slot machines and poker were added to games offered. In 2000, the Seminoles announced plans to rebuild the casino as a Hard Rock Casino. The Hard Rock Casino opened in 2003, with the hotel opening the following year. Over time, the Florida Legislature has changed laws allowing new games at the casino, including Vegas-style slot machines and blackjack. Major expansions of the casino occurred in 2007 and 2012, making it the largest in Florida.

Aside from the casino, the hotel has a 12-story tower, a pool, a fitness center, and three parking garages. There are many restaurants, including the locally acclaimed Council Oak Steak House, The Fresh Harvest buffet, Rock and Raw sushi bar, The Rise Deli, JuBao Noodle Palace, an international food court, a large Hard Rock Cafe, which regularly hosts live stage performances, as well as others. For shopping there are multiple stores, including the Rain Maker tribal gift shop, the Hard Rock Store and a Seminole Smoke Shop. There are also multiple bars located around the casino floor, including the L Bar, the Center Bar and others. Additional features include a non-smoking game room and a high-rollers club room. Musical memorabilia exhibits can be found throughout the complex.
